Arguably Hollywood's most famous attraction, the Hollywood Sign was constructed as an advertisement in 1923 and read "Hollywood Land". Over its life, the sign has fallen in and out of disrepair. However, new letters were erected in 1978 and the sign was once again refurbished in 2005.
