Before John F. Kennedy was assassinated, he had originally chosen the site for his presidential library next to Harvard University, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The construction of the library was delayed upon his death, and the community rejecting the plan to build the library there. Officially the plan was abandoned in 1975. After that, the site was moved to a location overlooking Dorchester Bay, next to the Boston campus of the University of Massachusetts. From here the building provides a great view of the Boston skyline as well as the Boston Harbor.

The building serves as a museum commemorating the lives of JFK and RFK. It houses replicas of their offices, photos, memorabilia, and documentaries about several historically significant events that they were a part of. During the warm months of the year in the harbor you can see the Kennedy’s boat the Victura. Officially the museum and library were finished in 1979, and the building was dedicated to the public by President Jimmy Carter and surviving members of the Kennedy family.
