Dorchester Heights

Dorchester Heights in Boston is the hilly section of Dorchester. Originally it was an isthmus connecting the mainland to Dorchester. During the expansion of the city in the late 19th and early 20th century, the land around the isthmus was filled in to accommodate a growing population. It was at this location that George Washington ousted the British from their hold on Boston by bombarding them from the hills with cannon fire.
