Through native garden, trails and exhibits, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center provides a unique way to learn about and experience the beauty and value of native plants in Texas. There are research components to the Center as well. The Plant Conservation Program protects the ecological heritage of Texas by conserving its rare and endangered flora. The Land Restoration Program applies knowledge of ecological processes to restoring damaged landscapes. In 2006 the Center was incorporated into The University of Texas at Austin.

April is the prime month for Texas wildflowers, and the best time of year to visit the Center is between April and August. Special programs happen throughout the year, including a "holiday celebration of lights" in mid-December.

The grounds are open Tues.-Sat. 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Sunday, noon to 5:30 p.m. Open every day in April, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.. The spaces inside the building close an hour or so before the outdoor grounds close. Closed Mondays and New Year's Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Admission:
Fees: $7 Adults, $6 Seniors and Students, $3 Children 5-12 years. Free to members and children 4 years and under.
